RBI MTNL

Location

Fort, Mumbai

Area

15,000 sq. ft.

The reception establishes a formal sense of arrival through layered stone surfaces, fluted detailing and the RBI insignia, while warm timber fins soften the composition and visually guide movement into the office. Beyond this, the workspace adopts an open and efficient layout, organised around modular workstations, clear circulation routes and visually connected collaborative zones.

Exposed services and suspended linear lighting lend the main office floor a crisp, industrial character while allowing the structure and building systems to remain honest and accessible. RBI’s signature blue is introduced through workstation screens and selected architectural elements, creating a recognisable visual identity without overwhelming the predominantly neutral palette.

Meeting rooms and private offices offer a quieter, more refined atmosphere. Timber surfaces, muted green accents, textured walls and abundant natural light bring warmth to these spaces, while custom-designed furniture reinforces their individual character. Perforated partitions and open-grid ceilings maintain visual permeability, subtly defining waiting and collaborative areas without isolating them from the larger workplace.

The resulting office balances authority with openness, and efficiency with warmth. It is a workplace shaped not merely as an institutional interior, but as a cohesive environment that supports concentration, collaboration and the evolving needs of a modern public organisation.

Designed for the Reserve Bank of India, this workplace balances institutional identity with a contemporary, people-centric approach. Formal stone surfaces and RBI’s signature blue establish a strong visual character, while warm timber, textured finishes and natural light soften the environment. Open workstations, clear circulation and visually connected collaborative spaces create an efficient office that supports both focused work and interaction.

Key Features

Low ceilings informed the design, with exposed services preserving headroom and defining the aesthetic. This practical response became a cohesive design language, giving the interiors a raw, industrial character.
